Candy Cane Wreath

Holiday season is in full swing and I feel it! It’s fun but non-stop! I am always on the look out for a good gift for neighbors, friends and teachers. All the people who make life a little better for each of us. I found this nifty candy cane wire mold at the dollar tree during Thanksgiving season and put it off thinking there had to be something cool I could do with it. The other day, I had this random idea to use the mold to make a unique holiday wreath that could be dried and saved.

I gathered some pieces that would dry well including eucalyptus, red berries and babies breath. I wanted to get the candy cane look but add some greenery into it as well.

I took the individual pieces of eucalyptus and slowly placed and tucked them into one another to fill up the whole candy cane mold. I then used the red berries and babies breath to create the diagonal stripes on the candy cane. I made this entire wreath without wire, I just wanted to see if it could hold well enough without using wire and maybe I was just being a little lazy or stubborn but it worked. If you wanted to be even more professional you could use the floral wire and secure this guy to be more weatherproof.

I really love how this turned out and I only wish I had bought more one dollar molds so I could make more. Maybe next year!
